The Good Life

Where life feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside

Hey there Reader,

I’m still reflecting on the difference between consuming and creating and the role the latter has on our wellbeing.

It’s subtle, because from the outside the two can look almost the same. Reading. Watching. Gathering ideas. Even learning. All of it feels like movement. But only one of them actually gives back energy instead of quietly draining it.

And I’ve noticed how easy it is to spend whole weeks in consumption mode without realising it.

Which is why I keep coming back to noticing. Not as something spiritual or poetic (though it can be), but as the most ordinary, human form of creativity. The kind where you register the temperature of the air when you walk outside. Or the sound of someone’s voice and what it does to your body. Or the tiny lift you feel when sunlight hits the sea at just the right angle. Not to capture it or turn it into something. Just to let yourself be there for it.

That, I’m realising, is the moment consuming ends and creativity begins.

It’s also why this month’s Book Club pick, The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad, feels like the right book for this month. It's not about making art. It’s about remembering that transformation begins with attention.

🔬Tiny experiment

Once today, pause and fully notice one moment without trying to do anything with it. Not to analyse it, or improve it. Just to be awake to it. That’s it.

📝 Journal prompt

Where in your life are you consuming more than you’re experiencing? And what happens when you treat noticing as participation, not passivity?
